This year's topic is Trade or Aid, inspired by the work of the firm's market-leading Africa Group. We invite you to submit a written piece in response to this question, displaying your research and advocacy skills.
Stage 1: The question: Your thoughts.
Trade or aid – what offers a brighter solution for Africa? And as Africa's economies develop, what role can lawyers perform in helping more people in Africa benefit from economic transformation?
Submit your ideas in no more than 500 words. To help formulate your response, see the examples of the role played by Clifford Chance in helping clients and communities in Africa identify and create opportunities for long term development. You will be judged on your creativity, initiative and business acumen, not your level of legal knowledge.
Your cause. Which charity do you nominate for a donation? View list
Deadline for entrants: 16 December 2011
Please note the competition is now closed.
Stage 2:
The top 10 from stage 1 will be invited to present their entries to a panel of judges at our offices in London. The most compelling presentation will win the ultimate prize, with second and third place winners also receiving places on our vacation scheme.
Finalists will be notified by 3 February 2012.
